The highly successful EU grant to increase energy efficiency and renewable energy use in residential buildings has been closed, but there are still many homes in Hungary in need of renovation and modernisation. Unfortunately, many families cannot afford to make the necessary improvements on their own.

To this end, the Government of Hungary has established the Home Renovation Grant, which aims to improve the housing conditions of families with children and to encourage the renewal of the housing stock in Hungary. Under the scheme, individuals with/expecting at least 1 child can apply for a non-repayable, post-funded state grant to renovate and modernise their home. Minister Katalin Novák announced that applications for the aid can be submitted from 1 January.
